Beautiful Chairs, Terrible Instructions

If this is repetitive, please forgive me. The written (paper) instructions for assembling the chair are terrible, the worst for any domestically-produced product I have ever seen. The narrative and photos are both unhelpful; I challenge anyone to put together this chair using just the instructions given. You would be much better off just trying to figure it out yourself, as I expecet many people do. The YouTube video is better, and gives you enough visuals to figure things out and make it work. But it omits so many obvious questions that someone who had not assembled this chair before would have, that it is maddening. It would ahve been so easy to do a focus group of one person - just give him the chair and the instructions and video, and listen to his comments. But obviously no one bothered to do this.

Thank you for the detailed feedback on how we can improve the assembly instructions. We will definitely take this into account as we work towards improving the customer experience. In the meantime, please fee free to call customer service if needed: 800-820-4707

High quality

Good looking chair when put together. I can see how some folks will be challanged by the instructions and assembly. I'm fairly handy, so it wasn't a problem. Overall I'm pleased with the quality of the wood, and the fit and finish.

Beautiful finished chair!

I just took delivery of one of these chairs...wanted to see/assemble it before ordering any more. The chair came disassembled (except for the seat) and packed in expandable foam that had been sprayed into the box after the parts were inserted. It does make for a bit of a challenge to unwrap the package, but no damage in shipping is a positive. All parts and chair pieces were well wrapped in plastic. It took me about 2 hours to assemble the chair. I found the instructions and photos to be less than clear, and there was some guesswork involved in the assembly, so this is my only complaint. Fortunately, it all came together well and the result is a beautiful, very well-made chair. I got mine in cedar finish and it is excellent.

Compared to other (from a competitor) cedar chairs that I assembled last summer, this chair is "beefier," with somewhat thicker legs, arms, and slats. All are very well sanded and finished. Very nice beveling on the parts. The supplied wood plugs hide the screw holes and give a nice finished look. The chair is 50% more in price than those I assembled earlier, but given the fit and finish I think it is worth it. A beautiful and very comfortable chair. I will order more.

Adirondack chairs

We are currently working with Tabatha to resolve a quality issue. All four chairs we received had defects. Some had marks like a hole where the drill tip Dented. Some pieces had a deep gouge in the wood. And several pieces were not sanded and had machine marks on them. We are working with an interior designer who suggested we get four Adirondack chairs and have them painted we ordered these T&L unstained chairs as they were not available at our local store. The issue is pending as Tabatha has reached out to the manufacturer I wish I could give them more positive review at this time. Charming Bench personnel are very receptive. I see the comment below about the foam yes that was very concerning to my husband and we had to pay $35 to dispose of all the packaging. Shipping was free so I guess we paid for shipping

These are the comments from my most recent order of 4 chairs to J.C.. I was down visiting them and they were beautiful!!

I think fair to say pain in the butt removing the foam haha but nice that they come not smashed!

More so that getting rid of packaging like that is impossible. Can’t recycle because of the foam.

Maybe they can spray it inside of a bag? 🤣

😻😻😻
And maybe that the chairs are gorgeous and perfect!
